WHAT A WVBC 2023 WEEKEND IT WAS!

Welcome to the West Virginia Breeders Classics!

In its more 30 years, the West Virginia Breeders Classics event has generated over $31 million in purses for the breeders and horsemen of West Virginia and become the premier horse racing event on Charles Town’s fall calendar.

And we’re more than just racing.  The West Virginia Breeders Classics includes the Sam Huff Golf Classic, a Hat Contest, and a Name that Foal contest, as well as making charitable donations to important local and statewide organizations.

The brainchild of National Football League Hall of Famer and West Virginia native Sam Huff, the West Virginia Breeders Classics are a one-night event with a year-round impact.

WVBC 2023 RACING

What a night West Virginia Breeders’ Classics 2023 was!

Coastal Mission delivered an emphatic triumph in the Classic, easily defeating stablemate Muad’dib, who entered as the defending champ.

Penguin Power won the Dash for Cash for the second consecutive year to move to the top of the WVBC mountain. The Fiber Sonde gelding now has five WVBC wins — three in the Onion Juice to go with his Dash for Cash scores — the most of any horse in the event’s history.

Hessica defended her Cavada title for trainer Kristy Petty, while trainers Cynthia McKee and Ronald Sigler each won a pair, the first two WVBC triumphs for each.

And so much more…
